Abstract

The conventional violin teaching model using the sage on the stage method in non-formal institutions often places beginner child students as passive learners who are prone to boredom. This community service activity aims to implement interactive national anthem violin duet instructional materials based on the guide on the side concept to foster a student-centered classroom atmosphere. The implementation method was designed through instructional material enrichment workshops for music instructors, structured duet practice mentoring, and periodic musical role-reversal simulations. The evaluation of the program's success was measured through active participation observation sheets, rhythm-pitch accuracy assessments, and children's learning motivation response questionnaires. The results indicated that implementing these ten specially arranged national anthems in a duet format successfully increased students' active engagement and musical awareness significantly. The two-part material structure proved tactful in training children to lead the musical performance alongside the teacher, both as melody players and accompanists. The initial constraint regarding children's awkwardness when leading the instructor was persuasively mitigated through a supportive, empathetic approach. In conclusion, this community service is effective in strengthening school partnership collaboration while fostering national appreciation in children from an early age.
